Maryette Charlton was a filmmaker, photographer, artist, and performer. Her work as a filmmaker documented the works of Alexander Calder, e.e. cummings, Frederick Kiesler, Pierre Matisse, Dorothy Miller, Lenore Tawney, Loren MacIver and others. As a performer Maryette appeared in the works of Cindy Lubar, Richard Foreman, Jo Andres, Tim Miller, Steve Buscemi and others. She was the mother of the late photographer Kirk Winslow.
Lillian Kiesler was an artist, art patron and the widow of the sculptor and avant-garde architect Frederick Kiesler. Ms. Kiesler studied painting with Hans Hofmann in New York in the 1930's and was introduced to her future husband by the artist Burgoyne Diller. Ms. Kiesler also performed in theater pieces by artists like Steve Buscemi and John Jesurun, often appearing with her companion, Maryette Charlton.
Kazuko Oshima was a jewelry designer, video artist and photographer. She made the wedding veil used by Madonna in her 1984 music video Like a Virgin.
