Very good.
Ephemera and photographic diary of Michael and Gerlinde Costiff (founders of London boutique "World" and the club Kinky Gerlinky) and their circle. Cast of thousands including Leigh Bowery, Bill Cunningham, Trojan, Siouxsie Sioux, Derek Jarman, Jayne County, Peter Gatien, Vivian Westwood, Steve Strange, Poly Styrene, Dexter Wong, Neneh Cherry et al.
'Michael & Gerlinde's World' delves into the archive of husband and wife duo Michael and Gerlinde Costiff and presents extracts from their journals and many previously unseen images. The couple had broad ranging creative careers, Michael started as a photographer, artist and film maker, whilst Gerlinde's playful dress sense made her a style icon. In the late eighties they opened 'World', a West London boutique full of curiosities amassed from their travels and in 1988 they turned their attention to forming the infamous club night Kinky Gerlinky. The night was pivotal to the burgeoning London scene and played host to many of London's most eccentric characters such Leigh Bowery, Trojan, Vivenne Westwood, Princess Julia and from further afield Divine. Sadly Gerlinde passed away in 1994, but not before leaving a lasting impression which is clearly documented in this book. 'Michael & Gerlinde's World' is the latest publication to come from Slow Loris, an imprint started by Kim Jones.
