Texts by Thelma Golden, Franklin Sirmans, and Malik Gaines. Introductory dialogue between Golden and Christine Y. Kim.
Now considered canonical exhibitions within contemporary art history, the Studio Museum’s “F” shows, inaugurated with Freestyle in 2001, have been widely recognized for their role in advancing innovative and groundbreaking dialogues around art and uplifting the work of emerging artists of African descent.
Nearly five years later after the Museum's groundbreaking exhibition Freestyle (2001) , Frequency continued the tradition of identifying emerging artists and exploring the concept of "post-Black" with a new group of artists.

Kim, this exhibition featured artists Nick Cave, Isaac Diggs, Leslie Hewitt, Rodney McMillian, Wardell Milan, Adam Pendleton, Robert Pruitt, Xaviera Simmons, Hank Willis Thomas, Mickalene Thomas, Michael Paul Britto, Nyame O. Brown, Jonathan Calm, Zoë Charlton, Mike Cloud, Kianga Ford, Rashawn Griffin, Wayne Hodge, Sedrick E.
