Student work comprised of 36 pieces, hand-drawn, hand-painted and block-printed with two reference pages.
Maryland (?): No publisher, 1921 (?).
36 sheets.
Brown paper roughly 9" x 11 3/4" except for 8 sheets of thick light beige drawing paper of varying size.
Good.
Student work pasted onto brown paper which exhibits chipping, closed tears, and toning. Paper clip marks and pin holes visible on some sheets. Not affecting work, but sometimes signature. 8 sheets of thick light beige drawing paper bearing pencil drawings with location and in some cases dates, show some chipping and soiling largely not affecting drawings. Penciled notes to some brown paper sheets.
Pencil, pen, and charcoal drawings, hand-painted and hand-printed work by Elizabeth C. Molter who seems to have lived in or near Baltimore in 1921. Several drawings make reference to places in or nearby Baltimore such as Druid Hill, Grasshopper Hill (antiquated) and Annapolis. Perhaps she was a student of the Maryland Institute College of the Arts.
Beautiful drawings, paintings, prints as well as form and pattern studies copied from other sources. At least one drawing is after the Austrian painter, illustrator and children's book author Tom Seidmann Freud. A fascinating glimpse into a long ago art student's training, surroundings and work. Now housed individually in archival mylar.
