Grey / Grey Organization postcard with hand rubber-stamped design to front as well as contact information rubber-stamped to back. Addressed by hand in pen to Timothy Hunt who was the founding chief curator for the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts as well as author Tama Janowitz's husband.
The Grey Organization was a British art collective in existence from 1983-1991. This postcard lists Toby Mott & Paul Spencer as members, at other times Daniel Saccoccio & Tim Burke were also counted amongst the collective. Mott & Spencer moved to New York after a poorly received attack, with paint, on London's blue-chip Cork Street galleries in 1985. Working in multiple mediums including video, performance, graphic design, and more, The Grey Organization fluctuated between anti-establishment actions and consumerist exploration. Collaborations with De La Soul, Derek Jarman, Gilbert & George, Neue Slowenische Kunst, Mutoid Waste, Psychic TV, Survival Research Laboratories, Yohji Yamamoto, and oddly, with the British Labour Party and Swatch, etc.
