Three photographs of Wigstock 1988 by an unknown photographer.

One shows the crowd and the old Tompkins Square Park bandshell (long since torn down), as well as Tabboo!'s instantly recognizable backdrop and the founder of Wigstock Lady Bunny standing with a microphone.

The other two show a crowd dancing onstage and a band performing, perhaps Tabboo!'s old band The  People Tree, though they were identified as Felecia on a YouTube video.

Three photographs that draw you in, a moment in time from 35 years ago that looks oddly contemporary...

Wigstock was an annual outdoor drag festival that began in 1984 in Manhattan's East Village that took place on Labor Day. Continuing, with a few gaps, until 2005, the festival would traditionally act as the unofficial end to the summer for the gay community of New York City.
