Conceptual Vandalism.

Rutgers: Self-Published, Mid-1980s.
8 pages.
7” x 8 1/2”.

Near fine, but for a light crease to front bottom right corner
and slight corner wear.

The portrait of Miguel Pinero used on the cover of this scarce,
almost unknown magazine, was drawn by Martin Wong
in a copy of Pinero’s play Short Eyes that he then inscribed and gifted
to editor Manuel D. Lezcano. Whether Pinero and Wong intended
for Lezcano to use it on the cover of Conceptual Vandalism is unknown.

Manuel D. Lezcano was a student of Pinero’s Nuyorican Poets’ Cafe
associate Miguel Algarin at Rugers University where he edited four issues
of this magazine featuring a curious mix of poets associated with the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and Rutgers University as well as comic book and graffiti artists.

This issue features work by Miguel Pinero, Martin Wong, Vaughn Bode,
Danny Shot, Juan Alcantera, Chris Pape also known as Freedom, and more.

OCLC locates no copies. Not present in the Martin Wong Papers held by New York University’s Fales Library or other parts of NYU’s holdings.
